The Caterham Seven is the direct descendant of the legendary Lotus Seven developed by Colin Chapman in the 1950s. Production and continuing development was taken over by Caterham Cars in 1973 Despite its looks, however, this is no relic from the past; today's Seven may lack some of the latest electronic wizardry but performance, response, handling and braking are class leading. | Colin Chapman's philosophy to keep weight to an absolute minimum, we have compormised slightly for the sake of comfort. Our cars are all SV versions which have a larger cockpit which will accommodate most drivers, full weather kit (windscreen, removable sidescreens and hood) and a heater. Even then the car weighs in at around 550kg. Or about a tonne less than a similarly powered Golf GT! |
